Mission Statement.

open{text magazine is a publication that explores interdisciplinary colloquy. We aim to facilitate academic discourse through the use of academic writing, presented in a medium that incorporates the gravity of an academic journal with the immediacy of a magazine.

We will implement a method of publication that will serve as a domain for the exchange of ideas in the form of academic writing from faculty, community members, professionals, graduate students, and undergraduates.By publishing this academic magazine in both print and as an Internet database, we will create an open forum that will make this information more accessible while overcoming the limitations of the physical space of an auditorium or the time constraints of a scheduled lecture. By transcending the boundaries between the academic tiers, we will foster a more effective exchange of ideas through academic writing at both the University of Pennsylvania and institutions in conversation with us.
